I really like what I hear from Carney so far, and quite frankly Nate's endorsement means a lot. He has far more depth of knowledge about the issues than I can hope to have - and I have a tremendous amount of trust and respect for his judgement. If Nate's behind Mark so am I.

I’m with you! I was in a quandary until I saw him on the Daily Show. My only exposure was his announcements as Governor of the BoC which were characteristically bland & businesslike. With Jon, I saw a bright Canadian with a quick wit & a sense of humour. I’m pleased to see you are supporting him as well, since I respect you as a person & MP.

It was an inspiring event. There is renewed energy with a candidate like Mark Carney and Nate as our Housing Minister and MP!

I’with you. Mark Carney is the leader for our time. The very fact that Melissa Lantsman crashed the event says it all!

I respectfully suspect that you are making a mistake, Nate. I am listening to the audio version of Carney's book on values in markets, and he is undeniably brilliant. It remains very questionable, however, that he can translate his non-political brilliance into political skill. His ability to generate crowds thus far says little about his ability to sustain that excitement over the long term, his skill with debate, his listening skills, or his ability to write a substantive policy platform (beyond economic policy) - these all remain untested.

His unwillingness to firmly support consumer-affecting carbon pricing, where you have done so and he has done so in his book, seems like a warning sign that he is going to be a politician who happens to have an intellectual background, rather than an intellectual-politician.

The Liberal Party of Canada desperately needs an institutional rebuild and rethink, and Karina Gould with her longevity in the party is arguably the potential leader who is most capable of accomplishing that. (Full disclosure: I am a member of the Canadian Future Party federally, not the Liberals. But that would be because there is even less power of an ordinary member to make a difference in federal Liberal constitutional politics than in provincial Liberal constitutional politics - hence proving my point.)

They must be questioned about their Liberal values. They cannot have membership in 2 Parties.

This old, dusty, corrupt politician should go back to one of the other countries where he has lived… we do not need more liberal over spending of our tax dollars

Hey dani, pay attention and take notes. It’s called nation building, not little empire building.
