I've always liked and respected Mr. O'Toole. As one who has followed politics for 32 years now, I can say that back then, when he ran for the party leadership, and won, there was nothing bad that I could say about him. However, I felt that he just wasn't leadership material. Maybe his look, or charisma, or the way he conducted himself? Truly an honourable man, worthy of respect, and full of integrity (like a Liberal !!!), but just not right for the role of federal Conservative leadership. It was sad how his party treated him. One can just look at the party today, and see what kind of immature, foolish children they have representing them. Poilievre has silenced his honourable and intelligent caucus members, and brought forth the conspiracy theory, climate change denier, anti-vax nut jobs to the front of the benches, and those are the ones we now here from, day to day, in committee and chambers. If only Charest won the leadership. Poilievre attacked him with lies, half truths and fiction; Charest repeatedly stated the realities of the nonsense spewed; and look what happened. It's pretty sad when, in a democracy, the fool greatly outnumber the wise...
I was in the audience. What a great and *adult* conversation the two of you had. It seems a rare thing in the political world these days.
Thanks!
