Children are our future. Really enjoyed your conversation with Rafi and I feel that respect for all is so very important. Children need to be understood, loved, cared for and have the best care our society can afford yet the TDSB does not not spend enough money to ensure children have enough quality care. Thirty students in a kindergarten is way too many to for two adults to care for, teach, and ensure their safety. Private daycares have a max of 6 children per adult.

Nate thank-you for this and the many great conversations you have been sharing.

Such a decent, caring, intelligent man. Raffi (and Nate) gets it - ‘children will treat people with kindness and respect because they have been treated with kindness and respect.’ 👏

Raffi & Nate Erskine-Smith, Such a joy to listen to Raffi. His music, song & lyrics must be fundamental over these many decades to many 100s of millions of us, so his child honoring is a common language. The Intellectual power to choose from the heart of children is amazing.

I was brought up in a family in which we held regular (~monthly) equal-time dialogues around the dining room table, about world & other issues of concern among my 8 member family, with occasional cousins. From age 3, I would listen to the conversation & asked to contribute when my turn around the table came up. With a nurse mother & 2 sister nurses, often their dialogues were deep dives into appropriate patient respectful interventions, in an institutional system, not quite there. The best protection for children is to help them cultivate their own voice, as well as listening equally to other valuable perspectives. Every family, extended-family & community should have available dialogue processes such as all humanity's 'indigenous' (L 'self-generating') ancestors cultivated with COUNCIL-PROCESS. Historically all indigenous peoples could raise issues among themselves for both collaboration & for Conflict-Resolution. Anyone called to dialogue had the responsibility to respond in Both-sides-now, Equal-time, Recorded & Published (or Private) dialogue. Council process expectations of normalcy are deep within us all. With this experience children are morally armed to refer to their own sense of right & wrong as well as to relate these experiences among family & intimate circles.

HUMAN 'DIALECTIC' (Both-sided) NEUROLOGY: Formal Dialogues or Dialectics mimic functioning of the human mind. Both eyes for example see in 2-dimensions, but the images are joined in the Neural Cortex for their differences in order to construct a 3-D working model of the world we live & act in. All senses of Smell, Hearing & Kinetic body movement from our 2 arms, legs & sides add 'dialectic' ('both-sided') dimensions to the world we perceive. When people are recorded & held responsible for what they say, reputation is put out into the public & hence becomes more collaborative & engaging. https://sites.google.com/site/indigenecommunity/d-participatory-structure/1-both-sides-now-equal-time-recorded-dialogues TRANSFORMING SOCIAL 'MEDIA' (Latin 'medium' = 'middle' aka engaging both sides in dialogue, not indoctrination). FROM MONO TO DIALOGUE https://sites.google.com/site/indigenecommunity/d-participatory-structure/1-communication-converting-social-media-from-mono-to-dialogue-libya

Socrates based 'academia' (Athens garden of Academus) 'education' (Latin 'to-lead-forth-from-within') upon formal equal-time dialogues & 'debate' (French 'de' = 'undo' + 'bate' = 'the-fight').

Real EDUCATION from all humanity's worldwide 'indigenous' 10s of 1000s of years is based in the adolescent's Vision-Quest https://sites.google.com/site/indigenecommunity/d-participatory-structure/8-vision-quest-education then Apprenticeship Mentoring, typically one-on-one by experts in a youth's chosen field, https://sites.google.com/site/indigenecommunity/d-participatory-structure/4-apprenticeship-education

Most of us will grieve the passing of artists and some social advocates. Sadly, the same can't be said of business tycoons, business leaders and, unfortunately, most politicians. What does that say about what we value?

Whether or not you coined it, I've noted your observation that "Politics happens with or without you and the answer is participation."
