While the choice to abandon tree planting is worrying, not building housing under as post war type of program is unacceptable. I see using coop, modular, small houses, rentals geared to income, tiny houses for homeless to relieve housing pressures as table stakes to underpin a healthy economy. Where in the budget is the commitment to food security which influences health of individuals to relieve pressure on our healthcare system.
LNG expansion and new pipelines risk us owning stranded assets. The world is electrifying. There should be more infrastructure projects to support this future.
There is little in the way of value added initiatives.
Why pump away heavy crude diluted with 30% condensate gas when we can develop better solutions?
Perhaps take a lesson from Mamdani; the Democrats are part of a captive binary system which is unable to keep up with public politics. Use this time to formulate an inclusive electoral system, beyond voting fads like PR. There are initiatives like Electoral Reform which need support.
I didn’t vote for you Nate for you to stab the LPC in the back in the midst of Canada’s struggle to survive sovereign in the face of Trump’s attacks on us. You have revealed yourself to be an unprincipled opportunist criticizing the party that helped get you elected as an MP. Your sour grapes over not being included in Carney’s cabinet shows through every time you open your mouth. Everyone knows you’re also still bitter over losing the OLP’s leadership to Crombie. I don’t expect you’ll succeed this time around either. People see right through your blatant opportunism. What will you do next? Try to run for mayor of Toronto? Good luck with that as well.
Predictions re: housing? Perhaps current predictions are correct in the short-term but longer-term demographic predictions suggest that Canadian demography will hollow out in the decade ahead. I recommend that your government have a look at the Peter Zeihan podcast on Patreon ASAP. We are heading toward a future that will include significant population decrease which will certainly accelerate as we curb immigration. Then there will be empty housing everywhere!!!
So this was the one that was passed before Justin Trudeau left and when Chrysta was Finance Minister. What's the point of going back to it? Discussion should be on the proposed 2026 budget. I hope it passes. Canadians don't want an election. It is expensive and the money can be used better. Going right is a worldwide trend but The PM is not going to the extreme right, jut right of center. Remember too that our enemy is fascism.
Perhaps a positive Pearsonian budget program would invest in building and shipping prefab apt interior furnishings for Gaza, and ceilings and floors, from Ont Quebec and Maritime forest products. Similar products could outfit growing indigenous families across Canada in both remote and urban locations. Mass timber was in bold ink before the budget. But now?
Gov needs to help Islamic investors in Gaza rebuild this way.
This kind of production would then grow into Ukrainian recovery, Sudan, Caribbean, etc. etc. B

Please support electoral reform.

Sean: what “we” do you have in mind, to own and operate the operation you envision? Corporation? Gov? Taxpayer?

Gerry: Who’s time would you invest to develop this electoral system? How would you develop consent for it?

Kathleen: Bile. Too bitter. Just say what you like about the budget. Other Beachers want to hear it. B.

Maria: Canada is temperate. There will be migrants from hot places. Empty homes there, not here. Expect to build.
You mean 2026? Please correct.

If it’s a PC budget how do we get back to a liberal one?
Lloyd: Thanks for your years of service.
